How to Ruin Your Contact Lenses
If you get contact lenses, you want to take care of them so they last like they should and you get your money's worth out of them. There are a few ways that you can really ruin your lenses before they should be tossed in the garbage. Learn what these are so that you can avoid doing these bad habits.
The first way to quickly wreck a new pair of lenses is by using the wrong type of eye drops. Read the back of the drops very carefully to see if they can be used with contact lenses. Some can't be and could mess up the lenses if you aren't careful. Always read the directions just to make sure that you are using the drops correctly.
If you are in the habit of rubbing your eyes too much, this can damage your lenses. Try to avoid doing this not only for your lenses but for your eyes too as you can make your eyes appear red and puffy with all that rubbing.
Don't sleep with your contact lenses in. This can dry them out as well as give you some serious eye problems in the future. If you know you are going to go to sleep, take them out and protect yourself and your lenses.
If you don't clean your contacts daily, this will shorten their lifespan. Always do proper cleaning with contact solution to get all the build up off them. Not only will you see better through them but you will also make them last longer.
Don't take out the contacts when they are dry and stuck to the eye. Add your contact solution to them first so they come out easier. If you tug and pull too hard the contacts could rip and you can sustain an eye injury as well.
When you put your contacts away in the case, always make sure that they are in the middle of the case and not still stuck to the sides. At times when putting the lids back on, especially the twist lids, the contacts can get stuck and torn. Get in the habit of double checking your lenses to ensure that they are in the middle as well as having enough contact solution in your case to float the lenses.
If you follow these tips, your contacts should last quite a bit longer and not be ruined as easily making sure you get the most usage for your money.
